In this blog I am going to discuss ho to do Oracle database installation in Silent mode.
In this new version of Database Oracle has introduced new feature of unzip based installation.
In this type of installation we
1. Unzip the zip file from Oracle in the required ORacle Home directory
2. Run the installer - which essentially runs the re-linking with OS in the background.
My previous blogs talk about Oracle 18c installation on Premise
1. Pre-req completion for Oracle 18c
2. GUI based installation for Oracle 18c
This is in continuation to install Oracle 18c in silent mode
So I am assuming you have already done the pre-reqs using my previous blog
1. Unzip the Oracle Software in the Oracle Home
[oracle@oraclebox18c ]# unzip -qq -d /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db LINUX.X64_180000_db_home.zip

[oracle@oraclebox18c ]# unzip -qq -d /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db LINUX.X64_180000_db_home.zip
2. Run the Pre-requisties and ensure it's a success
[oracle@oraclebox18c database] cd /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db
[oracle@oraclebox18c database] unset ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME ORA_NLS10
[oracle@oraclebox18c ~]$ /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db/runInstaller -silent -executePrereqs
Launching Oracle Database Setup Wizard...
Prerequisite checks executed successfully.
3. Start the Installation
[oracle@oraclebox18c database] cd /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db
[oracle@oraclebox18c database] unset ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME ORA_NLS10
[oracle@oraclebox18c database]
[oracle@oraclebox18c db]$ ./runInstaller -silent -waitForCompletion -responseFile /tmp/Standalone_18c.rsp
Launching Oracle Database Setup Wizard...
The response file for this session can be found at:
/u01/app/oracle/product/180/db/install/response/db_2018-08-10_05-16-41AM.rsp
You can find the log of this install session at:
/u01/app/oraInventory/logs/InstallActions2018-08-10_05-16-41AM/installActions2018-08-10_05-16-41AM.log
As a root user, execute the following script(s):
1. /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db/root.sh
Execute /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db/root.sh on the following nodes:
[oraclebox18c]
Successfully Setup Software.
4. Run the root files as root user
[root] - /u01/app/oracle/product/180/db/root.sh
You might be prompted for another root script which essentially changes the oraInventory permissions, however I do have another home installed so the permissions are properly set.
So that is pretty much it
Below is my response file for your use which you can use for installation.
